ABOUT ALAN

Although not born in Texas, Alan considers himself a Texan, being an Aggie and having lived here since 1983. Alan’s father was an engineer in the nuclear field and assisted with plant start-ups, which required several moves during his childhood. Alan was born in Ohio, lived in South Carolina during his pre-school years, and grew-up in Michigan before moving to Bay City, Texas, during his sophomore year in high school.

Alan has a BBA degree in accounting from Texas A&M University, graduating cum laude in 1990. After undergrad, Alan worked in the tax section of Arthur Andersen in Dallas for several years, obtaining a CPA license during such time, before leaving for law school at Southern Methodist University, where he graduated cum laude in 1997.

Since law school, the primary focus of Alan’s practice has been wills, trusts, and wealth preservation planning, including federal income, estate, gift, and generation skipping transfer tax, nonprofit organization formation and federal exemption, and general business transactions, including counseling clients regarding entity formation, structuring, and succession planning, focusing on the federal income tax and transfer tax implications associated therewith.

Alan is happily married and has three adult daughters, who he claims are responsible for his hairline (or lack thereof), and a beloved granddaughter, who has “Pop-Pop” wrapped around her little finger. In Alan’s free time, he enjoys spending time with family, Aggie sports, travel, and, for most of his life until recently (and to which the mirror reminds him daily he needs to return), playing tennis and working out.
