ABOUT DAVID

David’s practice focuses primarily on domestic and international tax planning, domestic and international estate planning, estate and trust administration, and wealth preservation and asset protection planning.

David advises individuals, corporations, partnerships, LLCs and tax-exempt organizations on a variety of issues, including (i) entity selection and formation; (ii) transactional tax planning involving taxable and non-taxable dispositions, exchanges, acquisitions, mergers, split-offs, spin-offs and recapitalizations; (iii) business succession planning and family wealth transitions; and (iv) employee benefits. His practice also involves designing and structuring estate plans for high-wealth individuals, and the implementation of sophisticated estate planning techniques including family limited partnerships, charitable trusts, private foundations, grantor retained annuity trusts, gifts and sales to intentionally defective grantor trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, and qualified personal residence trusts. David also regularly advises clients on matters involving (i) probate and administration of estates and trusts; (ii) beneficiaries’ rights and trustee/executor obligations; and (iii) protection of assets from future spousal and creditor claims through use of pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, and protective business and trust structures.

While David grew up in the northeastern corner of Oklahoma and is still a big Oklahoma Sooners fan, Texas became home when he moved to Dallas in 2001 to obtain a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation at SMU School of Law – and he has practiced law in Dallas ever since.

When David is not working or spending time with his wife and two daughters, he enjoys reading, traveling, socializing with friends, and attending live music and theater.
